Farm Worker – Plumas, MB

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Farm Worker plays an essential role in day-to-day field operations, seed processing, and general maintenance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate large agricultural equipment such as tractors, sprayers, and combines.
  • Assist with planting, spraying, harvest, and general fieldwork.
  • Operate and monitor the seed cleaning plant to meet quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment, semi trucks, and trailers
  • Safely load/unload grain trucks and follow proper seed handling procedures
  • Sample and grade seed lots based on protocols and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of grain movement, maintenance activities, and field operations.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak seasons (seeding & harvest).
  • Ability to perform physicals tasks such as lifting 50+ lbs, crouching, climbing, and working outdoors in varied conditions.
  • Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn new skills.
  • General knowledge of modern grain farming practices.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Extended hours, including overtime and weekend work, may be required during seeding, harvest or as needed based on operational demands.
  • Work is performed primarily outdoors in a farm setting, in all weather conditions.
  • Physical tasks include lifting, climbing equipment and manual labour.
